Death and soul points

Death

In Die2Nite, death is never serious.

It only serves to signal the end of your existence in a given town, and to mark the beginning of another existence in another town.

Gaining soul points in case of death

When you die, you are awarded a certain number of points depending on the number of complete days survived during your last incarnation

A day is considered "lived in full" if you survive the night or die from consequences arising from the zombie attack at 23:00. Death of any other kind will render the day invalid.

Here are the possible scenarios:

  • if you die during the day (from poisoning, dehydration during an expedition, ...): the day does not count as having been "lived in full". For example, if you die from Cyanide poisoning during your 5th day in town, you will only be awarded points for the 4 full days you survived.
  • if you die at 23h00 (server time), but from dehydration, an infection or any cause not linked to the zombie assault: the day is still not considered complete, because you were unable to provide for your basic needs. For example, if you die from dehydration on the night following day 5, you will only be awarded points for the 4 full days you survived.
  • if you die in the desert at 23h00 (server time): the day does not count as having been "lived in full". (see previous example).
  • if you die in town during the zombie attack: your day is complete! For example, if you die during the zombie attack on the night following day 5, you will be awarded points for the full 5 days you survived (the 5th and final day is valid).
